Write a letter to the Editor

One way you can help Arkansas' children is to write a letter to the editor of your local paper. Feel free to use the sample letter below as a starting point, but be sure to personalize it and let them know how Act 1 will affect your community. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

To the Editor:

On November 4th, the children of Arkansas suffered a tremendous blow with the passage of Act 1.  At any given time, there are 450 - 500 Arkansas children who need adoptive homes. Act 1 will reduce the number of homes available.  It will prevent child welfare professionals from deciding on a case-by-case basis which homes are suitable for Arkansas' children.

We can still rally and resist the harmful effects of Act 1.  Please write and call your legislators to let them know about your opposition to this measure.  Please submit information about how this measure will affect you and your family to stories@arkansasfamiliesfirst.org.

Sincerely,

A concerned citizen
